The FMs of Serbia and Uganda, Nikola Selakovic and Abubaker Jeje Odongo, signed on Tuesday in Belgrade an agreement under which Serbia will donate 40,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Uganda.
Selakovic and Jeje Odongo met on the sidelines of the commemorative Non-Aligned Movement meeting in the Serbian capital.
They noted that political relations between Serbia and Uganda were traditionally good and friendly and that memories of the former Yugoslavia’s role in the era of anticolonial struggle remained one of the foundations of modern-day relations between the two countries.
Selakovic said more frequent exchanges of high-level visits should provide an impetus to bilateral political relations.
The parties urged stronger cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, in particular in the economy and infrastructure development.
Selakovic thanked his counterpart for Uganda’s principled support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
